FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of entry to Aero Day.

1 Will the Museum be open on the day of the Aero Day
Yes, the aviation museum and gift shop is open and entry is included in your Aero Day ticket.

2 Are there any special meal deals in the Avgas cafe, before, during and after the event?
Friday night will be our usual Friday evening special menu until 6pm. During the event on Saturday there will be café food and beverage specials selection from the AvGas cafe during the day. There will be several food vendors at aero day.

3 Are people allowed to bring alcohol to the event?
No. The public is not permitted to bring alcohol on site. There is a bar at Classic Flyers NZ. No bar on the airfield.

4 Are pets allowed at the event?
No. Dogs [except registered guide dogs] and other pet animals or birds are not allowed to be brought on to the airfield site, including airfield car parks. 

5 What happens if the weather looks marginal?
Please check the weather page on this website.  We will update the weather page if the weather looks marginal. The weather often is marginal at Papamoa and/or Bethlehem but is good for flying at the airfield.

6 Can we bring a gazebo and /or sun umbrella to the event?
Sun umbrellas are recommended. Gazebos are limited to 3m x 3m to be courteous to all spectators.

7 Is there parking on site at the event?
Yes there is plenty of free off street parking.

8 Is there seperate parking for motorcycles at the event?
Yes the car parking team will marshall motorcycles to a specific motorcycle parking area.

9 How do we access the event?
From Aerodrome Road or Jean Batten Drive into Seawind Lane between Bunnings and the AvGas café at Classic Flyers NZ. This will have signage and marshalls.

10 Will disabled toilets be available?
Yes on the airfield site, and at Classic Flyers NZ.

11 Is there parking for people with Mobility Parking permits?
Yes there is. Current permits are required to be displayed.

12 Is there pedestrian access to the event?
Yes, there is pedestrian access through the glass gate to the garden bar from the carpark at the AvGas cafe. Past Dakota Way then follow the marked yellow lines behind the Classic Flyers building to the airshow site.

13 What are the event hours?
Gates open to the public at 9.30am.
Aircraft and Classic Cars on display from 8.30am
The air display starts at 10.00am and finishes at 3.00pm approximately.

14 Can I take an adventure flight in an aircraft at the event?
Yes there will be adventure flights available - specials will be advertised closer to the event.

15 Are there ATM machines on site?
No, please bring cash. There will be EFTPOS machines at some food/beverage stalls but no cash out.

16 Can people fly their private aircraft in to visit the event?
Yes but arrangements have to be made with the organiser beforehand. Check the Aeronautical Information Publication for air space closures.

17 Can people fly their drones at the event?
No, the public cannot fly drones at this event. Please check the link here for information regarding flying drones.
 

18 Can people hire mobility scooters at the event?
Sorry no, try google "mobility scooter hire Tauranga" for contact details of local companies who do this.
